Shoreditch is a fabulous mix of small businesses, entrepreneurs and large companies, all mixing together in an exciting blend of creativity. All that inspiration needs fuel, so we’ve put together some of our favourite places to visit nearby for a coffee catch up or a lovely lunch.
Looking for inspiration? Then where else to meet than in this quirky café surrounded by literary works. The Paper and Cup is a not-for-profit social enterprise that offers a wonderful place to catch up, share ideas, or just escape work for a lunchtime read in peaceful surroundings. The books are second hand and a real bargain. The cakes and pastries are delicious too.
For something a little busier, try Lantana Café. A great spot for lunch, the focus is on Australian café culture and the menus reflect healthy eating and fresh produce from around the world. One of the most popular menu items is from the weekend brunch menu – The Lanatana Blowout. Of course, you’d have to be in Shoreditch on a weekend, not so easy for a commuter, but the delicious brunch and unlimited prosecco make it worth your while.
Plenty of visitors to Allpress rave about the delicious tasting coffee. Allpress believe the flavour is in the roasting, and so they do their own, stating on their website that the coffee beans all go through the Allpress Hot Air Roast Method.
In fact, up till recently the roasting was done in-situ on Redchurch Street, but has since moved to larger premises. You can still get your caffeine fix though, from the Redchurch Espresso Bar.
A busy café that caters to the cycling community – of which there are plenty commuting to work in Shoreditch. At the Look mum, no hands! café you can not only grab a large slice of cake with your coffee, you can get your bike fixed as well.
There are plenty of healthy options, sofas and plugs for laptop users and draught beer for the thirsty. All in all, a good place to stop for your post cycle, pre-work breakfast before getting down to work in one of the local co-working spaces.
What could feel more creative than a selection of craft beer? Okay, you probably won’t be trying them all in your lunch break – but it’s a good place to go for your post work unwind.
There’s a wide range of craft beers to choose from, however the staff are on tap to help you find something to your taste. If you are a true beer lover, this is the perfect place to find something new. Plus, it’s very close to Old Street Station, so you can drink up in time to catch your train home.
