Things to do in London this Christmas

December 3, 2019 |

If there is one place that is full of festivities throughout December, it has to be London. Parties, concerts, shopping and sparkle, you’ll find it all in the capital. So, we’ve picked out just a few things to try this Christmas.

Trafalgar Square

If you are looking for lights, sparkle and carolling, then Trafalgar Square is the place to be. The giant Christmas tree, donated each year by the people of Norway, is fully illuminated. Most evenings and weekends throughout December you’ll find groups of singers underneath, bringing festive cheer to the city.

Hyde Park

The Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park brings the magic of Christmas alive. There’s so much to do you might need to spread it over a few days.

Visit the Magical Ice Kingdom and step into A Christmas Carol. The Dickens tale is brought to life in ice sculpture, so make sure you wrap up warm. Then stop by Santa Land to see Father Christmas in his grotto and let him know what you are hoping for this Christmas, before taking a turn on the ice rink.

With a giant wheel, shows, karaoke and a Christmas market, this winter wonderland really is putting the magic into the festivities this year.

Are there lockers at winter wonderland?

If you are going to winter wonderland you should know that there are only a small selection of lockers available which often fill up. It’s advisable to leave any heavy items that you can’t carry at home as there is a good chance you won’t be able to store them in the lockers at Winter Wonderland.

Hamleys

Santa and his elves are out in force this December, and you’ll find plenty of places near you to take the children. Picking just one grotto is really quite difficult, but we think visiting Santa in his workshop at Hamleys world-famous toy shop really must be special.

DIY Art Christmas Market

Try a different kind of Christmas Market at Rich Mix, Shoreditch on 7th December. With four floors of exhibits from a range of artists, featuring ceramics, prints, original artwork, comics and jewellery, among other things, you are bound to find something unique to put under the tree this Christmas.

Food and Drink in Shoreditch

There are plenty of parties on across London, but being from Shoreditch ourselves we naturally feel we have some of the best places for fun, quirkiness and festive frolics while being safe. So if you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, try these venues:

If you’re looking for a treat for the grownups this Christmas, then head to Debut at Shoreditch Treehouse. Enjoy some easy flowing music picked from a selection of classical, opera and musical theatre, a glass of bubbly, and a vibrant festive atmosphere.

Old Street Records offer live music throughout the month, so you’re sure to find something to your tastes. To get you into the Christmas spirit, you shouldn’t miss the annual Christmas Sing-a-long on 16th December. What better excuse for an office party?

Ballie Ballerson offer a fantastic cocktail of fun with their ball pits, party atmosphere and, well, cocktails. Join in the festiities by booking your Christmas party.

Another popular Christmas venue is the rooftop bar at the Queen of Hoxton. Step into the giant wigwam and enter the Emerald City, where you can join the winter witch themes workshops or step aside to toast marshmallows on the firepit.

Finally, if you would like a bit more entertainment with your Christmas drink, try Trapeze. You’ll find some circus-themed fun, delicious food, a great atmosphere and plenty of live shows.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from everyone here at Urban Locker.
